Hanzhen b.1998 Hanzhen was diagnosed with autism at age 2. He had no speech and was put through vigorous interventions to learn basic skills. He is 16 years old now and attends a mainstream international school with normal peers. He also plays the piano and will attempt Grade 8 Practical next year. Hanzhen loves to sketch. He sees objects in incredible details and interprets them in an ornate fashion, clearly displaying a unique style. His sketch of the historical Cheng Hoon Teng Temple in Melaka was one of the winning entries in the Asia ParaArt Tokyo 2013 competition and earned him a spot in a travelling exhibition to various airport locations in Japan together with other Asian artists. With the completion of an extensive art installation at the new Hilton DoubleTree Hotel in Menara Landmark, Johor Bahru, Hanzhen is moving on and so is his artwork. He has just completed a commission for the Consul-General of Singapore in Johor Bahru where his art took a leap from single buildings to panoramic skylines. Check out Hanzhens website. hanzhen.org
