Happening today--the Arkansas State Board of Private Career Education’s is scheduled to meet today on the regulation of yoga teacher training schools. In anticipation of the SBPCE’s scheduled meeting, our Chief Operating Officer, Barbara Dobberthien, released the following statement: “Like our members and the Arkansas yoga community, Yoga Alliance is deeply concerned about any attempt to impose onerous and expensive requirements on yoga teacher training programs in Arkansas. These requirements are meant for career enhancement programs, not yoga teacher training where the majority of participants attend solely to strengthen their own practice. Not only is there no reason to impose burdensome requirements on yoga studios, doing so will be harmful to the yoga community and the state.” We implore Arkansas yogis to make their voices heard to the SBPCE, especially if they have not yet done so.
