Happenings in Bintulu, Sarawak! OM Materials (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd is building its manufacturing plant for the production of manganese and ferro silicon alloy smelting plant in Samalaju Industrial Park, Bintulu. Tokuyama Malaysia Sdn Bhd has successfully constructed two production plants located in the Samalaju Industrial Park. The plants will manufacture polycrystalline silicon for solar cells. Press Metal Bintulu Sdn Bhd opened its smelter plant with 2.66 times larger than its Mukah plant Petronas MLNG The new LNG Train 9 is in the construction now and would add another 3.6 million tonnes per annum (mpta) to the existing 24 mtpc production capacity of the Petronas LNG Complex and would utilise the same liquefaction process technology as the complex’s existing eight trains. Asia Advanced Materials Sdn Bhd will be Asia Cement’s company to run the three-phase project, which will use state-of-the-art technology. The first phase will have an output of 33,000 tons of metallurgical grade Silicon (Mg-Si) as feed for Polysilicon, and this will increase in the two subsequent phases to 100,000 tons by 2019. Pertama Ferroalloys Sdn Bhd will build the plant which occupy around 200 hectares of land in the Samalaju Industrial Park in Bintulu of Sarawak. The Pertama project is a two-phase manganese alloys and ferrosilicon smelting plant development. Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd has awarded Pekerjaan Piasau Konkerit Sdn Bhd and China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd an RM306mil contract to construct and complete the proposed Samalaju Port Development Project in Sarawak.
