Happiness is …Living in the Now: Chapter 23, Part I This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. –PSALM 118:24 HCSB All too often, people think of happiness as something that has already happened (in the distant past) or something that may occur “someday” (in the distant future) –but they’re mistaken. Happiness, if it occurs at all, occurs in the present tense; happiness takes place in the precious present. Are you willing to celebrate your life today? You should. After all, this day is a blessed gift from God. And when you stop to think about it, you probably have countless reasons to rejoice. Yet on some days, when the demands of life threaten to overwhelm you, you may not feel much like rejoicing. Instead of celebrating God’s gifts, you may find yourself frustrated by the obligations of today and worried by the uncertainties of tomorrow. If so, it’s time to redirect your thoughts to things positive…and it’s time to start counting your blessings. The familiar words of Psalm 118:24 remind us that this is the day the Lord has made and we should rejoice. So whatever this day holds for you, begin to and end it with God as your partner. And throughout the day give thanks to the One who created you. God’s love for you is infinite. Accept it joyfully…and be happy..Now.
