Happy 2015! Much like a new day, a new year comes with a fresh start and change. Last year was a year of costumes, and its been an incredible one. Cosplaying is an art of many disciplines, and I could not have gotten through the year without the help of all of the incredible cosplayers that Ive had the honour of meeting last year. Ive learned a lot, and if nothing else, Ive learned just how little I actually do know about cosplaying and costuming. Even with all the help and support it is still an increasingly time consuming endeavour. My list of hobbies and activities continue to add up, while my closet, is quickly running out of space. Cosplaying will never not be in my life, but at some point soon, I will have to start being more selective about when, where I show up and with what. That being said, the idea of not wearing a costume to a convention is just so strange to me now, the whole notion of wearing regular clothes just makes me want to run away and join a naturist community for the weekend instead. For now, and for 2015, Ive decided that I will once again do my best to attend as many events that Im invited to in the fashion that Ive become accustomed to, which is basically whatever I feel like Ill have the most fun in. The big change for 2015 will be that I will now share the theme/world/universe/realm/crossover of every costume that Ill be planning for this year for those that want to join in on the fun :) Salute to Supernatural (SS) San Fran Jan 16-18 – Disney SS Phoenix Feb 20-22 – Naruto SS Las Vegas Mar 12-15 – Marvel Dutch Comic Con Mar 28-29 – Disney Midwest Media Expo April 10-12 - Not sure yet. SS DC July 24-26 – Skyrim SS Vancouver Aug 28-30 – Supernatural SS Dallas Sept 11-13 – Happy Potter SS New Jersey Sept 25-27 – Supernatural SS Toronto Oct 9-11 – Supernatural ish/related/2 degrees of separation Asylum England Oct 16-18 – Something from England SS Chicago Oct 25-27 – Marvel SS Denver Nov 6-8 – South park SS Burbank Nov 13-15 - Nintendo Looking at that list in its entirety tells me a few things. 1. This is going to be a crazy year, I cant believe how many places Im going to. And I cant believe Im still planning on going to a couple of cons not on this list on my own for fun. I think I have a problem. 2. Im going to be meeting a lot of people! If youre one of them, I encourage you not to feel the need to shy away, Ill be more than happy to say hi :) 3. Theres still a lot of costumes that I want/need to do that arent on this list. But those fandoms would be better suited to other cons.. one day! Thats it, this is going to be a (insert your own adjective) year! Whether its fantastic or catastrophic, adventures will be had, lessons will be learned, and if I make it all the way to 2016, itll be cool once again to reflect on the year to see whether or not Im proud of myself for how Ive spent my time. The time to get started is now! :D
