Happy 50th anniversary Doctor Who. I remember sitting in front of the TV every Saturday afternoon as re-runs of you played on UKTV when I was a little kid. I loved you even when no one else really understood why. You were pure escapism mixed in with technobable, quarrys and cheesy acting. I wanted to be the Doctor so badly. Be the eccentric man with all the answers, and a box which could take you anywhere in space and time. I think this may have defined who I am today more than I realize. An IT nerd with a passion for acting. I wonder where this could have come from? Of all my friends only one person I introduced to the show got it (and boy did I create a monster with that. How many books did you buy Brenton Van Vliet? How much merch?). So thank you Doctor Who. Even when they cancel you they cant keep you down. Its popularity today, as well as its longevity shows that even with its many flaws its still one of the best TV shows on television. (even if it is really a TV show for kids)
