Happy 5th of July Tidelanders! We are outage free on the mainland as of last night and a monumental effort is underway at Ocracoke to begin replacing 45 poles along Highway 12 that succumbed to Hurricane Arthurs wind and water. Once we got a handle on load issues at Ocracoke, the generating plant went right into service providing rotating service to the islands residents. Weve sectionalized the island into three circuits and each circuit will receive three hours of power and then go six hours without power while we give the other two circuits three hours of power each. Well remain on that schedule until power can be fully restored via the Hwy 12 line. We currently anticipate full power restoration sometime Sunday night.
