Happy 80th Birthday to The Hawk, RONNIE HAWKINS. He was born on January 10, 1935 in Huntsville, AR. He burst on the rock n roll scene in 1959 (after an unsuccessful audition for Sun Records in 1957) with Chuck Berrys Forty Days (Roulette) and Young Jessies Mary Lou. Most of his backing band hailed from Canada as The Hawks (they would later become The Band after backing Bob Dylan). The Band included HAWKINS in their 1976 farewell concert that became the Scorsese-directed film, The Last Waltz.
