Happy Age Club Tournament in Conjunction with the Peoples Republic of China 65th National Day Celebrations on 28 September 2014 at Footscray. CAVTT had entered two teams for the above event which has just been concluded last night (at the date of posting this notice). For the open event, our players being Eric Tan, Albert AU, Zhang Zhong HUA and They NG. For the Veteran event, the players are Albert AU, They NG, Li Yu Sheng and Stephen SO. Both our teams have pulled through to the finals, only to be beaten narrowly by the host teams of Happy Age. Throughout the competition,our players had put up a stunning fight against players who are not only younger but stronger. We stormed through, nevertheless, beating much more formidable teams on the way to both finals. Perhaps one of the highlight for the day was the double match played between Eric/Albert vs Eric Huang/Charlie, the later being much fancied to win. It was a stunning performance put up by the four players, where every point and game was fought with the narrowest of margin. Of special mention is the fifth set where dueces changed hand many times. And at last CAV pairs prevailed at 16 to 14. Of special mention are players like They NG and Li Yu Sheng, who fought and combined well in doubles. We played well in both singles and doubles, especially the doubles which may be one of the reasons we managed to reach the finals. Well done !!! Jonathan AU report for CAVTT
