Happy Birthday, Andy Summers!! The former Police lead guitarist turned 72 on Wednesday. After a brief stint with Eric Burdon and the Animals, Summers spent much of the late 60s and early 70s in Los Angeles, soaking up influences from the early L.A. punk scene. He returned to London to join the band Strontium 90, with Sting and Stewart Copeland, who eventually split off to form The Police. Since the breakup of The Police, Summers has generated a huge amount of solo work, including 12 albums, collaborations with a bevy of other artists, films scores and several book projects.
