Happy Birthday from AFA Ireland to Dublin-born Jewish anti-Fascist Max Levitas who recently turned 99. Max has been active in militant anti-Fascist politics for over 80 years! He became an East End hero when he was arrested in 1934, at the age of nineteen years old, for writing anti-Fascist slogans on Nelson’s Column in Trafalgar Square. He took part in the Battle of Cable Street in 1936 and continued his work throughout the following decades. Last year, he spoke at a rally against the EDL in East London. His brother Maurice fought with Connolly Column of the International Brigade in the Spanish Civil War.
