Happy Birthday, to my Dearest baby brother Erwin! The childhood moments and memories that I have shared with him are priceless. Ill share a few things here on FB and will try not to embarrass him (LOL!). He came into this world on December 8th, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, Holy Day of obligation for us Catholics. YES, his life has been blessed from day one! My mom unselfishly allowed a young girl being forced to give her child up for adoption to name him Erwin. Theres so much more to the naming, but Ill spare everyone. I just want my brother Erwin to know that today as he begins another year of his life, I am getting very nostalgic even about his being the very reason I was able to purchase our very first Christmas tree for our family. Those that know my story, know that my mother struggled raising 4 kids on her own in the hood (will always LOVE my people and the hood, our Southwest Yonkers neighborhood) and she did an awesome job! Were it not for my brother Erwin almost being retained in 2nd grade, we would have had yet another Christmas without a tree. I took it upon myself to advocate for him by going directly to our school principal Mrs. Weinstein. I fought hard at 10 yrs old, and was able to obtain my very first job (tutoring my brother and other children that were going to be retained). Mrs. Weinstein and I negotiated my salary. I was paid a whopping $20 buck for the summer. I saved it all and in December I bought the most beautiful Charlie Brown Christmas tree ever! This too is a long story, and Ill spare the details. I have so many beautiful moments and memories with my baby brother but these two ( his name and our first Christmas tree) are the closest to my heart than any other. So, Happy Birthday to the BEST brother, father, husband, son, uncle, friend anyone can ever have! May God bless my AWESOME brother Erwin with all his warmth and care! I LOVE YOU BABY BROTHER!
