Happy Birthday to my girl! I bought her 4 summer fall blouses and 2 of them were the EXACT same ones I bought her a couple of months ago that she still hasnt worn yet. Apparently I liked those shirts but there again I buy her A LOT of shirts! A few other little gifts like a Dewault Multi tool she needed for her pack when she rides. Also some Fresh flowers to match the shirt she was wearing today. Then I had the butcher cut two GIANT Porterhouse steaks 2 inches thick for the grill last night. Baked potatoes, Broccoli, and Sauteed Portebello Mushroom and Onions. Chris and Steph brought a good Bottle of Champagne and we dined well! We were on the road to Paula’s dad’s property yesterday to pick up some items so I ran out of time to bake a cake so first thing this morning….It’s Cake Baking time. Now I take no credit for my cooking skills since my Mama taught me how to cook when I was a little boy. I would bring home Wood ducks, squirrels, rabbit, doves and quail and whatever I killed and Mom would always cook it for me…but she also took the time to teach me how to cook things myself telling me it would make me a better man one day. I’ve never been one to just follow simple directions on much of anything. I always have to tweak it to try and make it better and that goes from Bows to Baking! That’s how I learned to make the best Tapenade you’ve ever tasted. But I digress….Now I’m no Debbie Burr but I have been called Freddie Crocker a few times…so…..it won’t be a pretty cake but I bet $$ it will be a tasty one. I started with a Triple Fudge cake mix but that would be too plain so…then I made up a special Cream Cheese Sauce using fresh eggs, Cream Cheese, Real Butter, Turbinado Sugar, Flour, & Vanilla. After pouring my cake mix into 4 cake pans (it’s gonna be a 4 layer cake…probably a BIG one) I then swirled the cream cheese mix into the chocolate batter and top it off with the rest of the Fudge batter! Baked it for 30 minutes and pulled them out to let them cool completely. Then I begin stacking and frosting them with chocolate and cream cheese frosting alternating the layers so the cream frosting is inside and finishing the cake with all chocolate. Bingo…there you go. :D
