Happy Birthday today (June 14) to Alan White, best known as the longtime drummer for UK cornerstone progressive rock group Yes from July 1972 on (succeeding Bill Bruford); in addition to his drums, he also played piano & wrote music for several Yes albums; he had previously worked with Ginger Bakers Airforce, Graham Bond, Joe Cocker, Terry Reid & was a member of John Lennons Plastic Ono Band, playing live in 1969 at the Toronto Rock & Roll Revival (recorded & released as Live Peace in Toronto 1969); Alan released the solo album Ramshackled in 1976; in the 2000s, he formed the band White, releasing an album of the same name in 2006 (with artwork by Roger Dean); still featuring Alan over 40 years later, Yes forthcoming (& 21st) album, Heaven & Earth, will be issued in July 2014…
