Happy Birthday today (June 20) to Anton Fier, who first came to prominence as the drummer for New Jersey-formed, cult fave band, The Feelies for their seminal 1980 Stiff Records album debut, Crazy Rhythms; he was a founding member of New York punk-jazz unit The Lounge Lizards, playing on their 1981 self-titled debut album on EG Records; he worked with Pere Ubu, was briefly in The Voidoids & has been the leader (& sole constant member) of the all-star downtown New York City collective, The Golden Palominos; he has collaborated with the likes of Bill Laswell, John Zorn, Jack Bruce & Bob Mould; as a solo artist, Anton released the albums Dreamspeed (1993), Every Silver Lining Has a Cloud (1995) & Dreamspeed/Blindlight 1992–1994 (2003); in 2010, he produced the album Orange by guitar virtuoso Jim Campilongo…(this & more featured today at Roch Parisiens Rocon Communications music chat page...)
