Happy Birthday today (Oct. 9) to Swiss drummer Thomas Wydler, best known as a core member of influential alternative rock band, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds; he has appeared on almost every Bad Seeds album, making his first appearance on the 1986 Kicking Against The Pricks & is currently (with Nick) their longest-serving member (since guitarist Mick Harveys departure in January 2009); he shares a variety of percussive roles in the band with with American drummer Jim Sclavunos; prior to the Bad Seeds, Thomas was a member of experimental post-punk German band Die Haut, who achieved some domestic success in the 80s; he has also recorded solo material, made available online; Thomas was cited by Nick Cave as being instrumental to the sound of The Bad Seeds latest album, Push The Sky Away (2013) - he was unfortunately unable to tour for the album due to unspecified health reasons…
