Happy Birthday today (Sept. 22) to Paul Hoffert, who came to prominence in the late-60s/70s as the co-founder & keyboardist-arranger with Canadian horn-rock band, Lighthouse; they sold millions of records via such hits as One Fine Morning (Canada #2, US #24), Pretty Lady, Take It Slow & Sunny Days, earning three Juno Awards along the way for Group of the Year (1972-73-74); as an award-winning composer, Paul has since scored countless feature films & television productions; as an academic, he founded York Universitys CulTech Research Centre & is a renowned expert on new media and technology; he was a founding director of the Canadian Independent Record Producers Association (CIRPA) & the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television; Paul was awarded the Order of Canada in 2004 for his contributions to music & the arts; his most recent book is the 2007 Music for New Media: Composing for Videogames, Websites, Presentations, and Other Interactive Media…
