Happy Childrens Book Week! We think reading books makes children - TopicsExpress

Happy Childrens Book Week! We think reading books makes children happy. And the memory of childhood books seems more indelible than any other reading. We hope youre helping the children around you build those treasured memories. For many of us, the stories we read had very particular, elegant, detailed illustrations. If you look at the images, likely you will instantly recognise the style. If you dont know Diane and the late Leo Dillons work by name, though, you may not know that their art was done over a 40-year period as a collaboration by artists married to each other. They won the Caldecott Award for childrens illustration two years in a row. Their work has been exhibited in museums: one, the Akron Art Museum describes their work: The Global Artistry of Leo and Diane Dillon will focus on the global nature of the Dillon’s work, which ranges from African and Native American folktales to Asian and Scandinavian epics. The major theme of their illustrations is that all people, whatever their culture or race, have universal experiences. We all have a lot in common, remarks Diane Dillon. It is our beliefs that divide us. We have little control over what life brings us but we can change our thoughts. Happy Mothers Day, Happy Childrens Books Week, and happy reading! leo-and-diane-dillon.blogspot/
