Happy Friday! There is no doubt that winter is far from over, we all know that. However what has been a milder stretch and a real lack of snowfall may be taking a turn. Overnight computer runs are a buzz and continue to support a more active and colder pattern to end January and for the open of February. 3 clipper systems are forecast over the next week, now thats a more active pattern. The first arrives Sunday. Rain and snow are in the forecast with this fast-moving storm that forms over northern Saskatchewan Canada Saturday morning. Its swift movement has earned it the name Saskatchewan Screamer. It will ride the strong jet stream quickly from northwest to southeast and bring a stripe of 1 to 3 snowfall with it. By no means carved in stone - the exact track of the low will determine the location of the snowfall. Im including below the NWS suite of computer models probability of snowfall of 2+ and the RPM computer forecast snowfall. (Both subject to change so stay tuned) What is also becoming more apparent is a buckling of the jet stream out west as January comes to a close. This is a change from the west to to east) jet stream flow as of late, allowing much colder air to sink south from the arctic. Stand by, cold is on the move as February opens.
