Happy Friday and Weekend and reminisce with me about an old inspiration hymn ♫ - “Only Trust Him.” The hymn ♫ was written over a hundred years ago, by John H. Stockton and published in The United Methodist Hymnal in 1911. John Stockton wrote the verses of the Hymn ♫ which he titled “Come, Every Soul By Sin Oppressed” which caught evangelist D.L Moody’s ear but Moody thought it needed a refrain which his ♫ song leader Ira Sankey wrote that begins “Only Trust Him.” The Hymn ♫ then took the name in the refrain which Moody liked for it offered an invitation to all who heard it to follow Christ and ♫ Only Trust Him. To those who know the LORD, we know indeed that we can indeed ♫ Only trust Him for Jesus alone declared “I Am the Way, The Truth and The Life, and No One comes to the Father except by Me!” (John 14:6) It is special and precious to be able to trust the everlasting God for the now and our future also for when all else fails, ♫ “He Will Save You Now!” Have a blessed weekend!! ♫ Only Trust Him (Come Every Soul By Sin Oppressed) ♫ V1 Come, every soul by sin oppressed; There’s mercy with the Lord, And He will surely give you rest By trusting in His Word. ♫Refrain: Only trust Him, only trust Him, Only trust Him now; He will save you, He will save you, He will save you now. ♫ V2 For Jesus shed His precious blood Rich blessings to bestow; Plunge now into the crimson flood That washes white as snow. Refrain ♫ V3 Yes, Jesus is the truth, the way, That leads you into rest; Believe in Him without delay And you are fully blessed. Refrain ♫ V4 Come, then, and join this holy band, And on to glory go To dwell in that celestial land Where joys immortal flow. Refrain ♫ V5 O Jesus, blessèd Jesus, dear, I’m coming now to Thee; Since Thou hast made the way so clear And full salvation free. ♫ Refrain; Only trust Him, only trust Him, Only trust Him now; He will save you, He will save you, He will save you now.
