Happy Friday yaall! As you may recall, many months ago Burning Man started looking for some new Seattle Regional Contacts to support myself and Michael Holden. There were a gaggle of well qualified people who applied, and through a process of community feedback, interviews, and conversations 3 new RCs have been selected. Please join me in welcoming Mike Begley, Marco Mazzoni and Tara Sanders (aka Mockingbird) to the Seattle RC role!!!! From the bottom of my heart I thank you three for taking on this job, and I am super excited to see what we can do together. I would also like to thank the other SEVEN! people who threw their names into the hat for this role: J. Howard Boyd (aka Reddick), Robert Eickmann, Dave LeClair (aka Dave Rabbit), Gabriel Cain, Marni Nemer (aka Giggles), Karen Sloane and Michele Woodhouse (aka Gypsy). The RC selection process is long and personal, and each of these people took the time to fill our surveys, participate in interviews, and patiently wait. When next you see folks give them a hug, buy them a drink and tell them thank you. Your current RC team is already working, and you can expect to hear from us very soon. In the meantime see below to read the official message from Iris at BMHQ welcoming our new RCs. Thanks again to everyone who participated in this process. Have a great weekend! Kay 1 of 5 Seattle Burning Man Regional Contacts ************************* Hello, Seattle Burners! Are you feeling 100% decompressed? :) I hope that you had a rocking time at SeaCompression last weekend. Please join us in formally welcoming three (yes, three!) of your community members onboard as new Seattle Burning Man Regional Contacts (RCs). Joining Kay Morrison and Michael Holden in service to the Seattle community are Marco Mazzoni, Mike Begley and Tara Sanders (aka Mockingbird). They each bring a different set of skills, perspectives and experiences to the Seattle RC team. As a long-term Black Rock City Ranger, recent Northwest Ranger and volunteer with a variety of organizations, Mockingbird brings her extensive conflict mediation and rockstar organizational skills to the team. Mike brings passion to acculturate newbies and explore different ways to connect community members. Marco, who first set foot in Black Rock City 20 years ago, is fired up to increase civic engagement between Burning Man and Seattle arts and culture. The Burning Man Regional Network is the year-round embodiment of the Burning Man experience. Supporting it as a global cultural movement, the expanded Seattle RC team will be working year-round to nurture community initiatives, collaborative projects, art, creative self-expression and communal effort in more places across the region. Check out regionals.burningman for more information on the Regional Network, the role of Regional Contacts, and the places where Burning Man activities are flourishing around the globe. We thank each of YOU for being an integral part of this selection process by sharing your feedback on each RC candidate through the community feedback survey. We thank each of the amazing candidates for stepping up. In addition, we thank you for your patience as the Regional Contact Selection team got to know each of them. We are grateful for Ignition Northwest present and past Board Members help as our interview panel during this selection process. You can count on this newly expanded RC team to help you and your fellow local Burners connect with one another, and nurture the ethos of Burning Man around Seattle. Feel free to reach out to them (seattle at burningman) for support in keeping the flame alive locally. We’re excited to support and encourage this expanded team and look towards the entire Seattle community to continue showing us what Burner culture can aspire to be. We also strongly encourage you to let these Regional Contacts know about activities in your neighborhood, so they can help get the word out and keep the community connected. As always, if you have any questions for our team or feedback about our processes, feel free to email regional-network at burningman.
