Happy Halloween!!! At Halloween the Addams Family always comes to mind because the idea behind the Charles Addamss New Yorker cartoon is an Old World New Jersey family (actually from Westfield) as they decay into Gentlemanly Shabbiness in the Nightmare Landscape of the growing NYC Suburbs. Within the shadows of skyscrapers in the 1940s, the old countrysides were developed and subdivided into the suburban reality with new neighbors, while the old, just faded away. In one of my favorite episodes, the Addams invite their new next door neighbors, from a gleaming new ranch house, for a friendly visit. Their reactions are hilarious. Could this also have happened in Montclair and around here back then? Happy Halloween!!! Ad Halloween la famiglia Addams sempre viene in mente perché lidea dietro il fumetto New Yorker di Charles Addams è una famiglia dal vecchio mondo di New Jersey (in realtà da Westfield… un paese vicino a Montclair) come decadono in Shabby da gentiluomo nel paesaggio incubo della periferia NYC nello sviluppo urbanistico. Nel ombre dei grattacieli nel 1940, il vecchio paessaggio era sviluppateo e suddiviso in una realtà suburbane con i nuovi vicini, mentre il vecchi, scompaiano. In uno dei miei episodi preferiti, il Addams invitano i loro nuovi vicini della porta accanto, da una scintillante nuova ranch house, per una visita amichevole. Le loro reazioni sono buffissimi.
