Harry Chapin I just came back from a quick trip to take my dad to my sister Dianes North Carolina home. On the flight back I spent most of the time thinking about the concept of home. Diane and her family moved 9 years ago into a beautiful home in a beautiful gated community in a beautiful area. They have made a life and a home there. I spent the trip thinking would life be better if we made the move somewhere else. The old grass is greener on the other side rationale. After reflection I began to see a different image. An image that for me is home. The north Rockland community has always been very good to my family. The schools have educated my children, the little leagues, soccer and cyos have given my children fun, competition, camaraderie and recreation, the community has supported our businesses. In times of need I have seen the community come out and support each other. When I failed the community they forgave me. Would I find all of that elsewhere? Is the grass always greener? Or is it the way we look at the grass that makes it appear that way? When I landed and came home I saw very green grass. I saw people in the restaurant anxious to hear about my mini trip. I heard people talk about my family in a way that warms my soul. And I thought I am exactly where I should be. North Rockland is my home and I couldnt be happier. Thank you to all of you who make our grass greener. Dorothy said theres no place like home. Sometimes a quick trip is all it takes to realize how right she was. Have a great weekend.
