#Happy Halloween to our fans! Do people in #India #celebrate #Halloween? Just like every #culture, Indians celebrate their dead. One of the rituals to celebrate the dead is known as Pitru-Paksha. Occurs in month of September or October. The ritual lasts for 10-15 days. During this period, people pray for the dead and feed them. In some regions, they offer flowers or diyas which float on the water and in other areas they offer food. This #spiritual and #peaceful process is known as Shraddha. In #Kerala, they feed rice with other ingredients to the crows as these birds are known to be the spirits of the dead. The rituals are usually done at the lakes, rivers or at one’s house. People often make pilgrimage to #Ganga to offer Shraddha. Halloween is not celebrated in India like how it is celebrated in US. But now some of IT companies in India throw #Halloween parties for their employees, of course with cake and candy :)
