Happy Hanukkah Hudson Valley! Some morning fog continues to burn - TopicsExpress

Happy Hanukkah Hudson Valley! Some morning fog continues to burn off across the Hudson Valley, and it will leave us with a mix of clouds and sunshine for our Wednesday. We could see some scattered showers rotate in from the north as the storm continues to pull east... in the Catskills, we could see some wet snow mix in, as temps will be in the upper 30s there. Valley locations, however, will be quite mild today... with temps possibly cracking the 50° mark in a few places. Tonight, temps should drop into the upper 20s in the valley (low to mid 20s Catskills). Looking toward the weekend... the odds of a major coastal storm, continue to diminish. If youve caught the news, youve probably seen or heard about the storms battering California with wind and heavy rains. Well... all the energy coming off the Pacific is helping to flatten the jet stream... a lot more than the models were anticipating a few days ago. That flattening of the jet stream would prevent a storm from intensifying and tracking up the east coast. So, as it looks right now, a major storm is unlikely to develop. We will continue to monitor the situation... as there are a LOT of atmospheric dynamics at play right now. Rumors have already begun buzzing about a storm right around Christmas Day... but as youve just seen, lets wait a few days before we get too worked up about that. Were heading into a very active pattern... so there will be a lot of threats popping up. Well do our best to sort thru the noise, to let you know whats real... and whats just an illusion. Weve got complete forecast details on the website, as well as the 5 day forecast. Have a great Wednesday everyone! -Bill- Wednesday Outlook: hudsonvalleyweather HVW 5 Day Forecast: hudsonvalleyweather/forecasts/
