Happy Holidays! The holiday spirit has arrived in full force to the Warrior Transition Brigade. Packages and decorations help us provide a festive environment to celebrate the holidays, and numerous activities are available to help us come together as a family and to celebrate the holidays. Excitement and anticipation is in the air---we celebrated a great holiday party together and everyone enjoyed the great performance from the USO show performers and the great interaction with our families and children. Throughout our Nations history, it is service in difficult times that makes our country strong. As Thomas Paine so eloquently stated in December 1776: “These are the times that try men’s souls: the summer Soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands it now deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.” In the world today, our forces continue to fight terrorism. Our forces are teaching the terrorists and all enemies of freedom that, as President Ronald Reagan put it, No weapon in any arsenal in the world is as formidable as the will and the moral courage of free men and women. Our generation and the Soldiers fighting have risen to the challenge to make our world a better place. President Roosevelt once said, “To some generations much is given. Of other generations much is expected. This generation of Americans has a rendezvous with destiny.” These remarks are just as applicable to our generation today as they were back then. Even more important is our work here--- everyone in this unit is a key leader, and America needs all of us to continue our service in the Army or in our local communities as Soldier for Life veterans. As we look to the future, our teamwork to enable our wounded, ill, and injured Soldiers is the most important mission in our force. Our commitment to our fellow Soldiers and their families underscores our trust and enduring bonds here at the Warrior Transition Campus. Our troops and their families– Active, Guard, and Reserve – are giving so much. Our goal is for the unit to feel like a family, and it is a privilege to serve as your Commander. The holidays are a time for celebrating, spending time with loved ones, and gathering to reflect on the past year. This time of year always takes on extra significance for those in the military community. It is also a key time to remember the sacrifices of our Service members, their families, and our caregivers that continue to make a difference every day. Please enjoy this time safely, and continue to serve as the leaders of character our nation relies on and places its trust in. Soldiers Always! Warmest regards for the holidays! Col.
