Happy Independence Day Jamaica! I know you are probably out celebrating or getting ready to go to the Grand Gala or to some hot dance tonight where you can truly revel in the spirit of Freedom*. I know it is a very difficult concept to grasp that Jamaica is NOT FREE, after all you have an Emancipation day and a Independence day within days of each other and millions have been spent annually to lull you into the belief that you are free but you are not. You are a Democratic Monarchy in the Commonwealth Realm. What that means is that The Queen of England is the reigning constitutional monarch of your country and her representative, the Governor General is your representation of the Queen in the Jamaica. For these reasons, Jamaica cannot make changes to her own constitution, must inform and accommodate the privy council ( highest court of appeals to commonwealth nations) and permit themselves to be directed in all matters of public policy from England.
