Happy Launching Day for the commit + act clinic in Bo, Sierra Leone!!!! Today was a massive and memorable day. The last days have been a flurry of excitement and tasks to get the clinic looking wonderful for todays launch. We started with a morning Brass Band March Pass procession where about three hundred people walked and danced from the clocktower in Bo centre to our new clinic. Dignitaries, stakeholders, government ministers, staff, volunteers, school children, women and youth groups, religious leaders and people from Bumpe amputee village all came to don commit + act t-shirts and walk together showing Bo what this psycho-therapeutic NGO can offer. At the centre we were privileged to hear the acknowledgement and thanks from many people including: Hope Sierra Leone, SLANGO coordinator Shellac, Father Peter Konteh, the Minister of Gender, Women and Childrens affairs - Southern region and of course Hannah Bockarie and Beate Ebert (Director and 1st Chairperson respectively of commit + act). Over a celebratory feast, we got to speak to many people and what their involvement in commit + act means to them and the people of Sierra Leone. It has been a wonderful day.
