Happy Monday! I realize many of you are on vacation this week, or have plans at the end of the week, so I wanted to update you on the latest forecast. We are still on target for hazy, hot and humid weather thru Wednesday. On Thursday/Friday we have to watch a tropical system down to our south developing. The issue is this: a cold front will be approaching and it may help to scoop up all of that moisture and dump some heavy rain on us through the 4th of July. I know, not good news. Timing will mean everything for this, if we can get this front through here earlier AND/OR the tropical development doesnt come to fruition, that could spare our holiday. Also to note: if this tropical system gets going (Name would be Arthur) and becomes stronger (off the coast) that would actually HELP our chances of pulling in drier air for the 4th of July (air is always driest on the left side of tropical systems). As you can see, some questions still remain for the end of the week. Timing a cold front is one thing.. adding a tropical system into the mix really complicates things as tropical depressions/storms are very erratic in development (especially this time of year). **SILVER LINING: The tropical system pulls away the humidity and heat and looks to leave us with an amazing weekend of weather ... Below are some pics of what could happen (modelwise) 00z Friday means Thursday evening. 06z Saturday shows the storm overnight Friday to our south. Then you can see the forecast map set up that I used over the weekend to describe what could happen. I will keep you posted here as we get a better handle on what could be Arthur and the timing of the cold front.
