Happy Monday! New Employee Spotlight: Justin Hilton! Although Justins job title is maintenance, hes blown everyone away with his other skills, most notably the new wood panels up at GA. Q: What do you do here at SGF? A: My job is to maintain and service the equipment at the airport, like the bag belts and jet bridges and air handlers. I’ve been involved in the remodeling of the lobby at General Aviation. I also do lots of woodworking projects and other things. The majority of what I’ve been working on lately was the wood working for GA and then I’ve been working on a sleigh. I replace wheel bogey motors on the jet bridge. The GPUs, they are kind of like a generator for the plane, I’ve been doing some work on those as well. Q: How did you get so good at woodworking? A: I’ve just been doing it since I got out of high school. I worked at a cabinet shop and I’ve done a lot of trim work. I did some work for bass pro in the past and that required a lot of woodworking as well. Q: How long have you been with SGF? A: I’ve been here for about a year. Q: What’s the best part about your job? A: I don’t know, it’s being able to do stuff that I wouldn’t expect to be part of the maintenance job. I really enjoy the woodworking. Building the sleigh has been really fun. Learning new things. Because you normally wouldn’t work on a jet bridge anywhere else. Q: What’s the most memorable moment you can think of off the top of your head? A: The night we moved the walls into the lobby at General Aviation. It all had to be made here at the airport and then moved over, and it wouldn’t fit into the door unless it was in two sections. It was freakishly heavy too, because it has a steel frame. So we had to figure out how to move it. It took all night. We were working on that for 17 hours. Q: Any advice for the general public? A: I think that there are people out there who don’t realize that the airport has free 30 minute parking. It’s there, and you should take advantage of it!
