Happy National and International Literacy Day! Welcome to World Literacy Day with strong hope that Cambodia will achieve the Second Millennium Development Goal (CMDG 2: Achieve universal nine year basic education.Overall target 3:Ensure all children complete primary schooling by 2010 and nine-year basic schooling by 2015) in 2015! The figure showed that: - Net enrollment and completion rates of primary education were respectively 97% and 87% for the year 2012-2013. - Gross enrollment and completion rates of secondary education were respectively 53% and 40% for 2012-2013. All 9 goals of Cambodia Millennium Development Goal (CMDG) will be achieved on time set in 2015 while 4 goals have already achieved before 2015 (4: Reducing child mortality, 5: Improving maternal health, 6: Combating HIV/AIDS, malaria and other communicable diseases, and 8: Forging global partnership for development). With these achievement, Cambodia ranked 5th among developing countries of the world in achieving MDGs, and ranked 1st in Asia Pacific region in making good progress to improve social indicators.
