Happy Navarathri.....NNavarathri is the nine day festival in the month of October, in honor of Devi or the mother Godess. She is worshipped as Saraswathi, the deity of all learning and arts, Lakshmi the Godess of wealth and Durga , embodiment of courage and power .Navarathri Mandapam is situated on the right side of the East Gopuram of the Padmanabha Swamy Temple. Navarathri Mandapam at Padmanabhapuram Every year in the month of October the nine nights of the festival are celebrated here with much fervor. 5th Day 29thdec 2014......MAA SKANDA MATA The fifth day is dedicated to the Goddess ‘Skanda Mata’. She is the mother of the chief warrior of the Gods army, the Skanda. The fifth form of Durga Maa is known as ‘Skanda Mata’ – the mother of Lord Kartikeya (Skanda). Kartikeya was chosen as the commander by gods in the war against the demons. She has Lord Kartikeya in her lap. Skanda Mata has four arms and three eyes and she holds the infant Skanda in her right upper arm and a lotus in her right hand slightly raised upwards. The left arm is in pose to grant boons with grace and in left lower hand which is raised also holds a lotus. Her carrier is lion.Skanda Mata is a deity of fire.Navarathri Krithis 5/9 (V.Subramaniam).
