Happy New Year -- 2.75/5 -- A box of candies laced with bitter pills.. Wasted talent, and what could have been.. As a mass entertainer it delivers on several counts but mostly resorts to classic cliches & cheap tricks.. Shah Rukh Khan is top notch in a film which doesnt deserve his presence, Boman & AB Jr were good.. Deepika was just an eye candy, while Sonu & Vivaan were ok.. Bomans mom was brilliant ! .. Some scenes were stretched though.. Farah Khan the director was pathetic, the choreographer was lovely.. The songs were brilliantly conceptualised.. The script was basically rags & tags from several films.. An opulent visual spectacle, it still had its only Farah Can moments with the NaMo, AB Jr thumb impression autograph etc etc.. The heist was spoon-fed & stretched but had no such flaws to it.. In short it promised slapstick & mostly delivered on that count but it could have been better & crisper... The 184mins had its delightful moments as well downers but one could sit through them.. Entertaining yet cringe worthy.. Predictable yet watchable.. P.S. - The climax dance sequence (y), the grandeur, and little Abram playing with daddy SRK during the end credits ^_^...
