Happy New Year! And it was one in 2014 for the Springfield area housing market. With seven days to report final home sales, member brokers of the Capital Area Realtors MLS reported 3695 closed home sales down only 38 sales from 2013. The good news is that foreclosure sales were down 33% to 405 from 604 in 2013. Non-distressed sales were up by 168. Better news for home sellers is we begin the year with only 1256 homes listed for sale the fewest to begin a year since 2002.
