Happy New Year Everyone! The declaration of January 1st as the beginning of another trip around the sun may be arbitrary, and it may also be predictable to begin thinking about improving yourself and your life at this moment. However arbitrary it is, it is a powerful symbol of the passage of time and it is not unusual for impetus to be born out of self-reflection. Dont let the negative people get to you; the ones who are quick to point out all of the reasons why trying is bullshit, or why resolutions are a waste of time because almost nobody follows through. Theyre only voicing their own reasons for not even trying in the first place - and perhaps they dont know theyre talking out loud. Of course it is ideal to make New Years resolutions obsolete by adopting life habits that will drag you ever closer to your goals, and better experiences with your passions - but nobody is perfect and very few people are rarely at that place to begin with. Being a great aspiration however means that it requires a beginning, and it doesnt matter if youve begun a thousand times before without success - what matters is that you learn from those times in the past and begin again. Dont stop trying, embrace your passions, hold dear to everyone around you and let those closest to you know how important they are to you.
