Happy New Year from Smithville; we made it! Didnt hurt so much did it? Time goes so fast thats its always hard to remember just how long ago something happened, but Im guessing it was about 3 or 4 years ago when a young lady by the name of Nicole stopped by my store and introduced me to a boy that was with her. He had a great big smile on his face and as he approached me I put my hand out and we shook hands; Hello, Tucker, my name is Dan. From that moment in time we were friends. It would have made me happy if I would have seen him much more often than I did, but before too long Ill meet him again and hell be on the other side welcoming me; in a much different body, but no doubt with the same sweet smile. Then wed have to go back more than 40 years when I first was introduced to Jack. No doubt we shook hands and Im sure he had a smile on his face too; he most generally did when I saw him. Over the next 40 years we visited, we worked on some projects together and there were times when the conversation took a serious note. Some would say it unfair that Jack would live six times longer than Tucker, but Im not one of those, knowing full well that a thousand years is as to a day, and a day is as to a thousand years with the Lord. Im rejoicing in the fact that both Jack and Tucker crossed my path and because of both of them I am a better person. Considering how everybody loved Tucker, dont you think that God loved him too and just perhaps God wanted him to be in heaven with him? Oh, and just maybe Tucker got his job done here on this earth much sooner than it has taken the rest of us! Jack Brown, Tucker Duitsman; thanks for being my friends! Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share but our toil He doth richly repay. Not a grief nor a loss, not a frown nor a cross but is blest if we trust and obey. Trust and obey, for theres no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey. Its a new year; happy for some, much sadder for others, but with great promise for all.
