Happy New Year opening box office collection: Shah Rukh Khan set to break record of Dhoom 3 and Kick! Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s much hyped movie Happy New Year hit theatres a day after Diwali on October 24 amid mixed reactions and critic reviews. The film reportedly had a 90–95 percent occupancy in most theatres on opening, and will likely break the box office collection record of Aamir Khan’s movie Dhoom 3 and also Salman’s Khan’s blockbuster Kick. The final figures of the Happy New Year box office collection should be out soon. But if box office predictions of Happy New Year come true, the Shah Rukh Khan heist film should collect Rs 40 crore on the holiday opening day itself. This means the Shah Rukh Khan Diwali release will easily break the opening day box office collection record of Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 that itself stands at an all-time high of Rs 36 crores (all languages). Dhoom 3 broke the opening BO collection record of SRK’s film Chennai Express that was Rs 33.12 crores. It’s a given then that HNY will also break the opening BO collection of Salman Khan’s movie Kick that just fell short of Dhoom 3 at Rs 35 crores. Happy New Year is expected to collect Rs 100 crore in a week’s time due to the holiday season of Diwali. However, it might not cross the Rs 200 crore figure.
