Happy New Year to everyone! Many of you should have started to receive your 2015 letter and raffle tickets. Ive decided to copy and post much of the letter here for those of you who have not received it yet. Welcome to 2015 Help - Once again we are asking members to assist us in a raffle to help pay our tax bill. We need your help. Enclosed you will find 5 raffle tickets. Please sell them, buy them, or return them (do not discard them) along with your dues payment as soon as possible. If you can sell more tickets please include a note with your sold tickets and we will send more to you. Thanks to your continued involvement we were able to meet our tax obligations. But, with rising cost and taxes, and insurance, without your continued support we will have a tough time meeting expenses this year. Farm & Grounds - The 2014 annual spring cleanup went well. Thanks to all who helped out. Thanks to Fred Vivacqua, Joe Murray, and Randy Griffin for keeping our grounds mowed and trimmed and thanks to Ron Bunce for his heavy equipment expertise. The excellent appearance of our grounds brought compliments from members and visitors alike and is one of our best selling points for gaining new members. The pavilion rest rooms provide service to the renters. This summer saw the construction of fences and the re-roofing of several skeet houses. Thank you to all who helped. Range Notes - The rifle range (members only) is in full operation, however some of us need to exercise a little more pride and take a stronger share in the ownership of the facility. Please read Range Rules and observe common sense rules, ESPECIALLY the rapid fire ban. We value our neighbors and want to keep them happy. Your machine gun like firing will surly bring trouble for the club. If you witness any untoward actions at the range, please get the license plate number of the offender and report it to the officers or directors. Action will be taken against the violators. Range keys may be purchased ONLY at the clubhouse on the days of skeet, sporting clays, and five stand. Keys cost $20.00 with a $5.00 refund for turning in last years key. Please note that no walk ins are allowed and the fee only begins to cover the cost of maintenance for the range. You are responsible for cleaning up after you shoot, you are asked to carry out whatever you carry in. Activities - Fish release (Dale Lewis, Chairman) Last years release of 500 8-9 inch Brook trout stocked Steeles Creek. Pheasant Release (Ron Bunce, Chairman) The pheasant release program was reinstated this year with pheasants being released in the Robinson Road State lands area & Pence Farm in Columbia Center (You must secure permission to hunt on the property). Clay Target Shooting (Ed Freedman, Chairman) Skeet - The John Brown Memorial Shoot is our main skeet shoot. Thanks to Gary Blaise, Dave Cooley, & John Grabski for maintaining our traps. Sporting Clays - Our 2015 league & open shooting started 12/6/14 but since we will be shooting for 21 weeks until May, you still have time to sign up for some fun and games. Thanks to Sandi Lorraine, Suzanne Cruger, Ro Tripple, Dave Mackin, Howard Anderson, Jim Lorraine, Kim Norman, Ken Scott and their crews for the tasty meals served up last year. Come up and give it a try. We shoot in the woods during the summer (see dates below). Five Stand Clays - We are fully automatic, with one trapper pushing the buttons and the challenge awaits you, usually every Wednesday from April to September. We have loaner guns for qualified instructors. Turkey & Big Buck Contest (Rick Bunce, Chairman) These are members only contest for those whose dues are paid prior to the start of the season. You must bring your turkey beard and the leg tag or your buck rack and game tag to a members meeting to get it scored. The December 2014 members meeting, prior to 7 pm is the turkey deadline. The January 2015 members meeting prior to 7pm is the buck deadline. Prizes to be awarded at the respective meetings include 1st, 2nd, and random draw. Raffle & Fair Booth (Rick Bunce, Chairman) Our 2014 raffle was a great success. We extend a sincere THANK YOU to all that purchased and sold tickets. Our 14th year with a booth at the Herkimer County Fair was a great success. Our goal to show the clubs grounds and programs was met through the hard work of the volunteers who built, set up, and manned the booth. We had a great response from the public. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the club. Browning Shotgun Raffle - We are running a raffle for a Browning 725 Grade 7 shotgun and case valued at $6000. Only 200 tickets will be sold at $50 each. Seeing is believing. View a ticket and see what you can win. Tickets will be available at all club functions until the drawing on July 25th 2015. No cash award and you must pass a NICS check to receive this gun. Kitchen - Our kitchen crew serves up tantalizing goodies (free of charge) for each months meeting (hamburgers, sausage, chili, hot dogs, etc). A dollar donation would be greatly appreciated. In addition we hold our Annual Meeting Roast Beef Dinner every January and we have our Annual Wild Game Dinner every February.
