Happy Pioneer Day to my fellow Utahns, to my fellow Latter-day - TopicsExpress

Happy Pioneer Day to my fellow Utahns, to my fellow Latter-day Saints, and to anyone else who may desire to celebrate it! Heres one of my twelve Facebook wall posts today to acknowledge this days passage. As we Utahns celebrate our wonderful state today, I thought that it would be appropriate for me to share Wikipedias article about Utah, which is Americas 45th state, its 13th-largest state, its 34th-most-populous state, its 10th-least-densely-populated state, one of its most Republican states, and its most-religiously-homogenous state. It was settled predominantly, starting in 1847, by Mormon pioneers who were seeking refuge from religious persecution. These Latter-day Saints established their religious headquarters in Salt Lake City in 1847, which eventually became both Utahs political capital and its largest city, and then gradually spread throughout Americas barren Great Basin, which they liked to call Deseret. This vast region was brought under American jurisdiction in 1848, and then gradually produced various U.S. states, including Utah in 1896, whose name is an indigenous Ute word meaning people of the mountains. During the 20th century, this American crossroads of the west has gradually become a center of transportation, education, information technology, governmental services, mining, tourism (particularly to its beautiful national parks), and outdoor recreation (including skiing on the Greatest Snow on Earth). It has also been growing rapidly in recent decades as Americans have migrated to it to enjoy Life Elevated. Hurrah for our industrious Beehive State!
