Happy Republic Day everybody. # Anything is better than Pratibha Patil taking the Republic Day Parade salute. # My father left the Brit Army and then the Pak Army to join the Indian Army and marched at the head of the RD Parade in Delhi in 1952. The residents of Old Delhi covered the parade with flower petals Old Delhi-India Gate-CP-Minto Bridge-Turkman Gate-Chawri-Chandni Chowk-Red Fort. # I formed something in the middle of the TS RAJENDRA contingent in 1974 and just the Army contingents marched through a truncated route Old Delhi-India Gate-CP-Minto Bridge-Delhi Gate-Daryaganj-Red Fort. # By 2015, my nephew is part of The Farm and The Hill at the same parade and Old Delhi is no longer on the route India Gate-CP-??-Red Fort. # The hit movie in January 1974 was YAADON KI BAARAT and about 2 dozen of us had perfected to a marching beat the figure of 8 dance that was part of this song which we did in the middle of the night on Rajpath, I recall doing side drum here.
