Happy Sabbath Joseph Seabrooke, I know some people may say that because science is now discovering new worlds out there amongst the stars that this somehow proves the real God is imaginary, but on the contrary it actually helps substantiate the Almighty’s very existence!!! The reason why someone may not realize this fact is because they have not understood even the first verse of the Bible, Genesis 1:1, and what it means when it says “God created the heavens (plural) and the earth.” Allow me to explain without going into every detail: Heavens has three meanings based on context. Heavens here is referring to everything in the universe. This means the stars, galaxies, and everything including other planets and worlds. YES, long before science and man were aware of the existence of other worlds, God had created these worlds and inspired it to be written about in His Holy Bible! You can read about this in place like Hebrews 11:3, but let’s read it Hebrews 1:1-2 for example: Hebrews 1:1-2 1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds God even inspired it to be written about how there being different worlds, celestial and terrestrial bodies varying vastly in type and kind all with unique properties well before science or man conceived of it!!! Read it in 1 Corinthians 15:39-41 for example: 1 Corinthians 15:39-41 39 All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of animals, another of fish, and another of birds. 40 There are also celestial bodies and terrestrial bodies; but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. 41 There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory. Remember, it is God through the Word who became Christ that made everything in the heavens and the entire universe (John 1:3, Colossians 1:16)! God proclaimed that He made them through Christ, that these other worlds did exist, and that He even named these stars, worlds, and the celestial and terrestrial bodies (Psalm 147:4) LONG BEFORE science and man EVER even knew they existed to even begin to give these worlds God created the names of the pagan Greek gods!!! God made these worlds and said they were there, so every time a new world, star, or galaxy is discovered it is just a testament to the accuracy of the bible, the awesome power of the Creator, and the fact God the Eternal does exist!!! Sadly just as people in the past, some even in today’s modern world look to these other worlds, stars, and perhaps even extraterrestrial life for their hope of a future. But we should not count on them or these types of ideas for our salvation. For these other worlds and stars are not our salvation, rather these things and the universe are our reward! Read Deuteronomy 4:19 for example: Deuteronomy 4:19 19 And take heed, lest you lift your eyes to heaven, and when you see the sun, the moon, and the stars, all the host of heaven, you feel driven to worship them and serve them, which the Lord your God has given to all the peoples under the whole heaven as a heritage. You can also read of the universe being our heritage and reward in Romans 8:32, Hebrews 2:8, and Revelation 21:7. Some may mock you for not looking to these other worlds, extraterrestrials, or the sciences for your hope, but these types of things will soon fail them greatly (Matthew 24:29) and those who look to such things for answers cannot be saved or delivered by them and will find out the result of choosing such practices do not end well for them! Read Isaiah 47:13-14 for example: Isaiah 47:13-14 13 You are wearied in the multitude of your counsels; Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, and the monthly prognosticators stand up and save you from what shall come upon you. 14 Behold, they shall be as stubble, the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame; It shall not be a coal to be warmed by, nor a fire to sit before! Do not be dismayed by the mocking, for you have a great hope and you are blessed for it because it is in the LORD (Jeremiah 17:7)! Because you can look up, not to these failing worlds (including earth), sun, moon, and stars that are in the darkening sky (Luke 21:25), but you can look up past them and beyond to the Great God the Eternal and lift your head because your redemption draws near (Luke 21:28) and because of your hope in the Lord, you can be of good courage (Psalms 31:24)!!!
