Happy St. Patricks Day! This medallion, which likely would have hung from a ribbon, was found during excavations of a mid-nineteenth century Euro-Canadian domestic occupation known as the Edgar site in Vaughan, Ontario. The medallion is designed with two intertwined shamrock motifs. It is known that one of the occupants of the site listed during the 1851-52 agricultural census was an Irish immigrant named Joseph Aspy. Perhaps this personal artifact belonged to him. Dont forget to check out the St. Patricks Day Featured Artifacts page on the website to see more Irish objects - to be sure! ow.ly/uFcq5
