Happy St. Patricks Day. Welcome to my new series called Science Show and Tell. I designed this from a reading activity called Read and React. This is where you read a passage and then tell you students to react. They would write down what ever they are thinking about the reading. We would then share our thoughts. My students loved it. Well, lets do it with science too. You show them the demonstration and then have them write a reaction in a science notebook. This helps to create a great discussion in the classroom. You could even have them write reactions several times during the demonstration. This will help with using prior knowledge, predicting and writing observations. These are great fun to do at home or with clubs as well. This is a demonstration I have been doing for years. Simple demonstration, with simple supplies, and a big impact. I dont know if you can tell from the picture, but the pencils will have a green tint after turning the water blue.
