Happy Sunday! Were back from MS. From doing a walkthru on a third - TopicsExpress

Happy Sunday! Were back from MS. From doing a walkthru on a third times a charm on the first house we built in MS, seeing the second house we built (after Katrina), meeting back-to-back appointments, and seeing friends. Whew. We build our dream home one year before Katrina. When she flooded it, we took it down to the studs and redid it. The builder we hired to do it walked away, leaving me with the trim work. In the meantime, we built a second to live in. The second one was the one I got to design the kitchen for and loved even better than the first. So, we rented out the first one. When we decided to sell it, we found out it had Chinese Dry Wall (which eats copper, etc.) and joined a class action suit. They just finished totally redoing the house from the roof to the concrete foundation, down to the studs. And we went down to do the punch list. Its a knew house, again -- with an environmental certification to go with it. I was stunned when I walked in -- its better than when it was originally built. They did a fabulous job. Big WHEW! When the punch list is done, we are going to put it on the market -- a brand new house, up to current codes, and a gorgeous 3100 square feet of open perfection. Then, we went to see the second one, which we havent seen since we moved 4 years ago. Fear upon fear, because the tenants trashed the first one, we were terrified of what wed find. It was amazing. The renters LOVE the house and the house seems to LOVE the renters. It is gorgeous. My custom designed kitchen looks so fabulous (and, yes, I miss that a lot). It took me almost the end of the tour to realize she was worried we were moving back. When I said, No, as much as I love it, my life is in GA now, her whole expression change and we said, Then, I will love it for you. I almost cried. Spending time with great friends only topped a long but wonderful day. I would call our trip a success of the best sort. But, I have a lot of catching up to do here, so I will wish you a wonderful Sunday and hope I can at least say good night later. I do feel like Ive been running a marathon. (Think my age is showing?) I dont know, but 12 hours of driving and all that in two days might be a bit much for anyone, dont you think? Have a great afternoon! LOVE AND HUGS!!!!
