Happy Sunday again. Things are fairly busy today, as a winter - TopicsExpress

Happy Sunday again. Things are fairly busy today, as a winter storm skirts past on our south. The worst of it is way down in the Ohio valley. Were on the very northern fringe of it, with towns in the northern edges of Champaign county likely staying dry (at least for the moment). Snowfall rates here in Saint Joe are have picked up pretty significantly over the last 30 minutes or so. The flakes started out very small, suggesting partial melting and evaporation before reaching the surface. But now theyre big, healthy flakes. We started this a few degrees above freezing, but are now right at the mark. I suspect that is at least partly responsible for the uptick. The heaviest band near here is approximately 60 miles southwest of us, and is quickly developing in our direction. I think the northern half of the county is probably safe from this, but places like Tuscola are going to take the brunt of it. This could be happening already, as radar-indicated conditions are worsening as rapidly as Im typing this. Look for 2-3 down there. As for the rest of us, well probably stay below 1. Along with some flurries, the real deep freeze arrives tomorrow evening, with lows in the single-digits, and wind chills below zero. Its going to make last week seem like kids stuff. Aside from the cold, the rest of the week is fairly uneventful; cloudy and way-below-normal temperatures. We might break out above freezing a few times. There arent any breaks from the cold in the near-term, but things are starting to look up for Thanksgiving week.
