Happy Sunday everyone I had you all had a blessed week! Through my bible studies, reading through the word and devotions this week I wanted to share thoughts. The Lord has led me to share about persistent prayer. You see our prayer lives should always be consistent, we should always be in communication with the Lord, but sometimes we can get stuck in a rut in a sense on a particular desire, in this case we can be missing something or someone else that is in need of prayer. Then there times in our prayer life where we pray for something continuously, and were not getting the answer we want, Paul in 2 Corinthians 12:8-9 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9 But he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christs power may rest on me. You see here God refused Pauls request. You see Paul quite praying that particular prayer, not because he thought that praying for it again was wrong, but because the answer was no. Sometimes people think that if we are not persistent in our prayer it shows a lack of faith, or we dont think that God hears us, then there are those who say if we are not in persistent prayer, it shows us to be lacking in faith and trust, saying that we have given up to easily. With that being said there are truths in both ways of thinking. The Bible tells us to pray, to ask God for things, when we bring our prayers, our requests to God, we honor Him, we are revealing our hearts desires, knowing that Hes the only one that can meet them. Sometimes we repeatedly pray for people, family members, but until their hearts are changed those prayers will remain unanswered. Then there are times when we are just unwilling to accept Gods answer, we feel that our persistence will brake Lord down and hell grant our prayer just to quiet us, at times we feel that God is obligated to say yes to all our prayers. You see we can continue in persistent prayer, but we must be willing to submit to Gods will, not ours, also His ways, Isaiah 55:8 For my thoughts are not my thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. 1 John 5:14-15 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us, 15 And if we know that he hers us whatever we ask- we know that we have what we asked of him. Heres a very key verse, the Lord grants our prayers according to His will not ours, we think we know whats best for ourselves, how many times have you prayed for something, the prayer is answered and it became your nightmare? We think of prayer at times like a blank check we can just get what we want, or we constantly pray for something and it consumes you and you become discouraged with the Lord and walk away from Him, we must not allow the enemy to discourage us. Psalm 20:14 May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. I have the desire to walk again, thats one of my personal prayers among others, thats my hearts desire, but if I remain paralyzed until I see the Lord face to face, then thats His will and purpose for me, and I will embrace it, I will continue to have a persistent prayer life. Biblical times people waited years at times for answered prayers, we must understand the Lord has a purpose, and a will for our lives, but its His will and His purpose. Amen! I hope this will bless you have great week God Bless!
