Happy Sunday, kids...yesterday was one of my best days in years...we had the Roger Miller Festival, and Marc Durham and his wife Linda came from Amarillo, Dub Campbell and his sister Janette came up from south Texas, and Marshall and Shirley Voss, two of our oldest and dearest friends, came all the way from San Diego...hot dawg!...with Dub, myself, and Durham, if wed had Debbie Campbell (RIP beautiful) and a drummer, we could have been A Bunch Of Old Farts Who Used To Be Buckwheat...Marshall and Shirley became our friends right away during our early young San Diego nightclub gig days, and have stayed that way through all these years...beautiful people...we came back to San Diego one time back in the day after this grueling tour of Canada, looking and feeling half dead, and were flat broke and didnt have anyplace to stay...we talked to Shirley, and she said, Come on over!...you guys can crash here!...so we did...Marshall said last night that he came home from work one day and there was this damn band living in my house HA!...we all (plus my local friend June) went over to Big Verns Steakhouse (YUM!) in Shamrock, Texas about 6:00 and ate steaks, drank wine, talked, caught up, did some serious reminiscing, laughed our ASSES off, cried a few times, took a bunch of pictures, and just had a hell of a time...was so sorry to see it end...and you know what?...everybody is EXACTLY the same, just older...I also got to see my old pal Mary Miller, Roger Millers widow...shes a pistol, boy...walking sunshine...purty dang goott lookin too...also her daughter Taylor, who Ive known since she was a baby...shes all grown up now and married, not to mention gorgeous...horn honkers, I can walk and talk and see and (sort of) hear, my new CD is coming out soon, they just re-released the Ray Charles CD that has my song on it, my truck is not burning any oil, my health is surprisingly good, my family is cookin along, thank you God...ahhhhhhhh...life is good...
