Happy Thanksgiving! Ive seen posts from many people this month detailing what they are thankful for on that particular day. I think a lot more of us should chronicle the people and things in our lives that we probably take for granted. Heres a few of the many things for which I am thankful (in no particular order after the first one): 1) Gods grace and unconditional love 2) My family. I still maintain a great relationship with my brother, Ernie Herd, and our parents. 3) My husband, his sons Paul Deaton and David Alan Deaton and their respective families, especially the grandchildren; and not to forget my mother-in-law--my other Mom. 4) My African sisters Stella Ellison, Mwayi Sambakunsi Moses and Flora Janet Nankhuni and their dedication for our orphanage. 5) For all the people I met and the cultures I was blessed to experience during my time in the Army. 6) For being able to stay somewhat connected to high school and college classmates via FB. 7) For being able to keep tabs on some of my cousins: Cheryl Brundage, Jeri Reid, Dennis Reid, Ejane Bruns, Joyce Harlan to name a few. 8) For all the veterans I have become associated with during my time with Disabled American Veterans Chapter 129 (MI). It has been an honor to serve with you and I look forward to doing so for many, many years. Enough rambling--time to spend with family and friends. May you have a blessed Thanksgiving!
