Happy Thanksgiving! Strong high pressure from Canada is settling - TopicsExpress

Happy Thanksgiving! Strong high pressure from Canada is settling into the region today, bringing quiet, but bitterly cold weather to the area. Were going to enjoy a day filled with abundant sunshine, but that unfortunately wont help temperatures much as highs will only be around 10 degrees which is 25 degrees colder than normal for this time of the year and only a few degrees warmer than record territory. The coldest high temperature ever in Rochester was 6 degrees in 1893. Warmer air will begin to trickle into the area this evening as a storm system from the west moves into the region. Temperatures will climb into the teens overnight while light snow develops. Expect less than an inch of accumulation late tonight through the early morning hours of Friday with a few batches of freezing drizzle possible. High temperatures will be close to 30 tomorrow with a brisk south breeze. Saturday looks drier with just a few glimpses at the sun with high temperatures in the mid and upper 30s. Sunday looks much colder, however, as a cold front blasts through the region. Look for 20s with sunshine and cold winds Sunday with the next chance of snow likely holding off until Wednesday night and Thursday. Stay warm, in the meantime, and have a great Thanksgiving! -Ted
