Happy Thanksgiving from Ducks Unlimited Each year as we begin the holiday seasons of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day we are bombarded by advertisements to get out on Black Friday and start spending your holiday money!. I certainly have no argument against the spirit of giving and showing our hope for peace and good will among the people of this world. But, unfortunately, in order to have that peace, great sacrifices have been made and continue to be made by those in uniform carrying on the American family tradition of defending our freedom. The freedom to live our lives the way we choose is quite possibly the greatest gift this Country has given us. Thanksgiving is a dedicated time to reflect on our freedom to pursue love, happiness, creature comforts, joy of family, safety and the ability to worship as we please without fear of reprisal or government dictation. When Sarah and I sit down for Thanksgiving dinner knowing our children and grandchildren are safe and free, we will thank the Creator that has given us these gifts, pray for those voluntarily in harms way so we can continue to enjoy them and ask for help for all those around the world who look at the United States of America as the great beacon of freedom but find themselves oppressed and persecuted by their governments. Many criticize us because we bear open for all to see our disagreements and debates. But I submit that this openness is our strength and our love for freedom will, with the help of God, always bring us together when it counts the most. I will also give special thanks for the blessing of working with the greatest and most caring group of people in the world. So, as you have that wonderful Thanksgiving dinner and fall asleep watching the Lions game, please remember that Black Friday will come soon enough. Thanksgiving is the time to give thanks for all the wonderful blessings we enjoy in this great country. I wish you all the joy of a wonderful Thanksgiving and pray for the safe return of all our troops, wherever they may be. Thank you for your continued support of Ducks Unlimited.
